Overview Alton Memorial Hospital, founded in 1937, serves residents in Alton, Illinois, and surrounding five counties, offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient services including surgery, medical imaging, cardiac care, cancer care, rehabilitation, and 24‑hour emergency care. Intensive Care is a 12‑bed medical/surgical unit capable of managing medical emergencies, hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilator support for adult patients. Critical Care Physician management is available by consult. Preferred Qualifications & Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing standards. Responsibilities Promote patient‑ and family‑centered care in a healing environment. Educate patients and families on illness or injury management, including home care and medication administration. Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engage in professional development. Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient/family or caregiver. Proactively plan and ensure communication of the care plan across the continuum of care. Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs. Maintain a constant state of alertness and perform duties safely, as this is a safety‑sensitive position. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s degree in Nursing Experience No specific experience required; open to applicants beginning their nursing careers. Licenses & Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) license required (RN preferred).
