Job Requirements Associate’s Degree in Allied Health Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB) BLS/CPR certification State license as a Nuclear Technologist Experience with a nuclear medicine hot lab and radiation safety Knowledge of nuclear medicine isotopes and tracking Experience in a related field NM Registered Job Overview Under the direction of the radiologist and the supervision of the manager or supervisor, the nuclear medicine technologist is responsible for utilizing unsealed radionuclides and radiation detection equipment to perform quality diagnostic studies and administer therapeutic treatments. Technologists perform high‑quality diagnostic images, identify pathology, position patients, provide injections, and manage IV access. They orient new staff, troubleshoot equipment, maintain accurate records, assist in student education, use equipment appropriately, and collaborate with interdepartmental teams. They adhere to strict radiation safety practices, regulatory requirements, and continuous educational standards. Job Responsibilities Provide comfort, safety, and care to patients, families, and staff before, during, and after procedures. Recognize and respond to emergency situations and radioactive spills, taking appropriate action. Perform procedures in compliance with governing standards for Nuclear Medicine, state and NRC regulations. Accurately order, prepare, and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to regulations. Orient new employees in regulations. Demonstrate proficiency in daily quality control procedures on all equipment prior to use. Notify Lead Tech of any corrective action needed. Demonstrate organizational and communication skills to promote departmental well‑being. Manage workflow, maintain a tidy work area, and complete tasks before submission. Maintain cooperative relationships with interdepartmental team members. Demonstrate competency through ongoing CBE's. Apply equipment knowledge and operating procedures through CBE's. Select appropriate imaging protocols and parameters based on clinical history and follow departmental procedures. Actively participate in training and mentoring of new employees and students. Use principles of service excellence in interactions with peers and customers.
