RN Charge/Supervisor

Promotes and restores patients' health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area. Directs and develops staff while collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional teams. Provides physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families. Accomplishes nursing human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Communicates job expectations and plans, monitors, and appraises job contributions. Recommends compensation actions while adhering to policies and procedures. Meets nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews. Implements production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. Resolves problems and identifies system improvements. Meets nursing financial standards by providing annual budget information and monitoring expenditures. Identifies variances and implements corrective actions. Establishes personal rapport with potential and actual patients to identify service requirements. Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures. Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting philosophies and standards of care. Enforces adherence to nursing practice regulations and governing agency standards. Measures health outcomes against established standards and makes recommended adjustments. Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing staff. Follows up on work results. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support. Promotes patient independence by setting care goals and reinforcing understanding of disease, medications, and self-care skills. Provides information to patients and the healthcare team by answering questions and fulfilling requests. Resolves patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations. Calls for assistance from other healthcare professionals as needed. Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols. Enforces medication administration and storage procedures. Maintains patient confidentiality while managing sensitive information. Documents patient care services by auditing records. Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability. Completes preventive maintenance and monitors equipment inventories. Evaluates new equipment and techniques as necessary. Maintains nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports and anticipating needs. Approves requisitions and manages cost allocations. Enhances professional knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications. Establishes personal networks and participates in professional societies. Fosters cooperative relationships among healthcare teams through effective communication. Participates in team problem-solving methods and builds rapport with colleagues. Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and explores opportunities for improvement.
