Applications are now being accepted for the following Grand funded position: Information Officer / Community Health Liaison Position Summary The Information Officer / Community Health Liaison serves as the primary point of contact between Madison County Health and the community, providing accurate health information, promoting public health initiatives, and building relationships with community stakeholders. This position develops communication strategies, coordinates outreach activities, disseminates educational materials, and supports programs that improve community awareness and access to health services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Public Information and Communication Develop, coordinate, and disseminate public health information through various communication channels. Create and distribute newsletters, fact sheets, brochures, press releases, social media content, and public service announcements. Respond to inquiries from community members, media representatives, and partner organizations regarding health programs and services. Ensure information communicated to the public is accurate, timely, culturally appropriate, and consistent with organizational policies. Assist with crisis communication and emergency public information efforts when necessary. Community Outreach and Engagement Establish and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, schools, businesses, faith-based groups, healthcare providers, and local government entities. Coordinate and participate in community events, health fairs, outreach programs, and educational workshops. Identify community health needs, concerns, and barriers to accessing services. Serve as a liaison between the organization and diverse populations to improve communication and resource accessibility. Promote participation in public health programs and initiatives. Program Support and Health Education Develop and deliver health education presentations on community health topics. Assist in planning and implementing health promotion campaigns and wellness initiatives. Collaborate with internal departments and community partners to address public health concerns. Support special projects designed to improve health outcomes and community engagement. Maintain an inventory of educational and outreach materials. Data Collection and Reporting Gather and analyze community feedback to assess outreach effectiveness. Maintain records of outreach activities, attendance, and community contacts. Prepare reports, presentations, and summaries for leadership and stakeholders. Monitor trends and emerging community health issues to inform program planning. Assist with grant reporting and documentation requirements as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public health, Communications, Health Education, Community Development, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field. Two (2) years of experience in community outreach, public relations, public health, communications, or a related field. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed and out of town with appropriate notice. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in public health, healthcare, government, or nonprofit organizations. Certification in Health Education, Public Health, or Community Health Work. Experience with social media management, public speaking, and community engagement initiatives. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of public health principles, community resources, and health education practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to establish effective relationships with diverse populations and community partners. Knowledge of marketing, media relations, and public information strategies. Ability to prepare reports, maintain records, and analyze data. Strong organizational and project management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital communication platforms. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Working Conditions Primarily office-based with frequent travel throughout the community. May require evening and weekend attendance at outreach events and community meetings as well as answering calls, questions, emails, social media after hours. Occasional lifting and transporting of outreach materials and equipment up to 25 pounds. Performance Indicators Increased community participation in health programs.
