Delicatessen Clerk

As a Delicatessen Clerk, this position will be responsible for handling food in a safe manner and ensuring the work area is always clean and neat. You will run the department registers and receive payments, make change, etc., where applicable. Additionally you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

The position reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director; Delicatessen Department Manager. There are no positions that report to this role.

Primary duties and responsibilities include providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, assisting customers, answering the telephone, taking customer orders, working with co-workers as a team, reviewing orders, understanding and practicing proper sanitation procedures, preparing and replenishing product, running department registers, removing trash, and adhering to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include washing dishes, ordering product and supplies, delivering orders, pricing products, and assisting in other areas of the store.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include the ability to understand and follow instructions, solve arithmetic calculations, and perform various physical activities.

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $13.50 to $16.80 depending on experience.
