Thermal Mechanical Engineer

Altex is developing innovative energy and power systems, for military and commercial applications, which will be subject to real world conditions. A position is open for a dynamic, hands‑on candidate, with a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, and more than 2 years of experience in the development, demonstration and manufacturing of thermal systems, including heat exchangers, Air Handling Units (AHU) and fuel cell systems for unmanned vehicle power. Successful candidates will be part of the Altex engineering team, responsible for the analysis, design, development, fabrication and testing of prototype systems, which will ultimately lead to commercialization of these innovative solutions. Position and responsibilities will be based on the capability of the candidate. Job Functions The candidate who shows superior capabilities in some or all of the below job functions will be considered. Designing prototypes, test fixtures and experiments Procuring system and test set up components, interacting with inside and outside resources Setting up test fixtures, with computerized data acquisition systems such as NI LabVIEW Running tests, with technicians’ support Analyzing data, and refining test component designs Producing reports on test setup, test procedures, results and data analysis Designing and assembling prototypes Assisting senior staff in formulating plans, preparing proposals and contributing to reports Relevant Experience / Requirements Bachelor or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent Over two years related work experience with thermal systems Previous experience with heat exchangers, reactors, and air handling units design/specification is desired Solid modeling and design, using SolidWorks is desired Ability to direct technicians, as well as personally perform test setup and testing is required Methodical design of systems and validation testing Skilled in documenting activities and maintaining records Ability to manage time, resources and staff in an R&D environment Good communication and team working skills Comfortable working in a rapid-pace environment, and handling multiple projects simultaneously Experience with SolidWorks, LabView, and Visio is preferred Personal Attributes Motivated, creative and committed Positive with “can do” attitude Quick learner Capable of working in a small and innovative company environment Communicative and team player Good analytical and written reporting skills Company Overview Altex Technologies Corporation develops innovative energy solutions, which are clean, quiet, efficient and cost effective.
