Medical Assistant OpportunityVirginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Assistant to support our office located in Norfolk.Employment Type: Full TimeIn PersonBenefits: M/D/V, Life Ins., 401(k)Compensation Range: $16.88 - $34.65. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.ResponsibilitiesAssists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment including exams and procedures.Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e. exams, and procedures.Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limit to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or proceduresMay schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions and may schedule appointments to follow up on test results as neededArranges for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as neededPerforms other administrative duties as requested by supervisor or physicianQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Minimum 1 year of experience required, preferably in a multi-physician practiceCertificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.Ability to demonstrate up to date knowledge of the profession and industryCMA strongly preferred.Must be willing to travel between sites in your region, as neededPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
