Doctor's Assistant - Surgery

Join the VCA West Coast Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital team as a Doctor's Assistant in Surgery! Location: 18300 Euclid St., Fountain Valley, CA 92708 Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 4 X 10 alternative work week Compensation: $20 - $30 per hour, dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule, and additional responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Assist the veterinarian and Technical Support Team with physical examinations and consultations. Facilitate appointments and drop-offs between the client, the doctor, and the Technical Support Team. Communicate and interact compassionately, educating clients about procedures and post‑operative care. Manage medical records, reports, and correspondence. Understand financial and medical charges and accurately charge for services. Schedule patient appointments for consults, rechecks, and/or procedures and facilitate discharges in a fast‑paced, high‑stress environment. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership. Qualifications At least 2 years veterinary medicine experience as a veterinary technician or assistant (preferred but not required). Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and common conditions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment. Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards animals and their owners.
