Assistant Director of Student Wellness Center / Mental Health Counselor / Clinical Supervisor and Training Coordinator, Student Wellness Center Position summary and responsibilities are described below. This role provides short-term counseling to students, supervises clinical interns, and assists with development of outreach programs. The Assistant Director collaborates with the Student Wellness Leadership Team to advance a holistic approach to student well-being across campus locations. Responsibilities Provide short-term individual counseling to students on issues impacting academic success or quality of life. Conduct training and clinical supervision for graduate-level counseling interns. Plan and facilitate clinical group supervision for the counseling team (interns and staff); coordinate with the Director on staffing and training implementation. Oversee development and provision of group therapy opportunities. Maintain relationships with outside resources to facilitate appropriate referrals for students. Provide on-call response and consultation/supervision in the director’s absence and as requested. Maintain appropriate clinical documentation for clients, consultations, and clinical intern supervision. Offer crisis intervention services to students in distress. Participate in emergency preparedness planning and training as required. Provide consultation/training to university departments on prevention/response to critical student concerns and to prevent suicide or threats. Serve on the Wellness Committee and collaborate on psycho-educational outreach programming and campus initiatives to support students. Provide BASICS / CASICS and substance use assessment, education, referral, and care coordination support for Student Conduct, Athletics, and related referrals. May serve in a confidential advising role for gender-based violence victims, in compliance with applicable laws and policies. Participate on campus committees and provide consultation with collaborating campus departments, faculty, and staff. Assist in planning for present and future clinical mental health services and adoption of best practices and evidence-based treatment models. Adhere to Center and University policies and to ethical standards of the American Counseling Association. Maintain professional malpractice and liability insurance as required. Perform other assigned duties relevant to the Center’s services and mission. Hours: 100% in-person, typically 11 months (full-time; June-July partial); evening and weekend hours may be required. Responsibilities support students at all campus locations. Minimum Qualifications Completed graduate degree program in Counseling or a related discipline. Minimum of four years of clinical mental health counseling experience. Current second-level licensure (e.g., LCPC) under the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation; completion of mandatory clinical supervision trainings as required for licensure; supervision experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of college student development theories and practice; experience with a wide range of presenting issues, including risk assessment and treatment of serious mental health concerns. Proficiency in crisis intervention, trauma-informed response to gender-based violence, program development, consultation, and outreach; demonstrated competence with diverse populations. If serving in a campus confidential advisory role for Title IX, completion of 40-hour training in sexual violence related to the role may be required. Preferred Qualifications Five years or more counseling experience. Clinical supervision experience and experience working with college students in a university setting highly preferred.
