Yard Supervisor

Yard Crew SupervisorThis position is responsible to lead and supervise the Yard crew, ensuring a safe work environment and efficient movement of freight.Essential DutiesOperate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and proceduresEnsures compliance with DOT regulations, company policy, and all applicable local, state, and federal lawsEnsures safe and accurate loading, securement and labeling of customer freightOversees yard traffic and appointment schedulingSchedules yard labor, approves timesheets and PTO requestsAdminister performance reviews, disciplinary meetings and actions in coordination with Human ResourcesManages the growth and success of the team by providing guidance and direction, mentoring, professional development and trainingMaintain open and effective communication with other departments and managers, proactively mitigating issues and concernsField incoming calls and emails, responding appropriately and timely to internal/external customer inquiriesEnsures equipment is well maintained and in good working orderPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalentFive years previous Yard experience, at least three years in the transportation industryKSAsStrong problem solving skills to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formHigh level of attention detail and accuracyExcellent verbal, written and listening communication skillsMust be self-motivated and outcome focused, with developed decision making skillsStrong interpersonal skills, active listening and relationship building skillsWorking knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel, and basic know of transportation computer based systemsTreats people with respect; keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational valuesBasic math skills for load planning and riggingKnowledge and experience with rigging and craningAbility to prioritize work throughout the dayLeadership CompetenciesCommunication: Express ideas in a clear, concise and convincing manner.
