Legal Secretary

Job Details Position: Legal Secretary Pay Grade: 11 Salary: $32,469.60 - $48,705.12 Annually Employment Type: EXECUTIVE BRANCH | FULL TIME | ELIGIBLE FOR OVERTIME PAY | 18A | 37.5 HR/WK Position Overview Do you like working with the public? Do you enjoy a fast-paced work environment? Are you a self‑motivated, multi‑tasking, and detail‑oriented team player? In this important role in Kentucky’s largest criminal defense firm, you will act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and other members of the community. You will also be expected to draft and edit a variety of documents, so excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – are a must. Time‑management skills are also valued as the ideal candidate will handle multiple time‑sensitive tasks for various attorneys and be able to prioritize and complete requested duties independently. Knowledge of programs like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Courtnet, and other court‑related platforms is preferred. Our clients are people who are unable to afford an attorney and the government has charged them with criminal offenses in Floyd County. A pleasant, outgoing personality both in person and on the phone is also highly desirable. Key Responsibilities Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: File creation. Preparing correspondence. Data entry. Answering phones. Greeting clients as needed. Prepare and, or, proofread legal documents for staff attorneys. Assisting with other clerical tasks. Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: High school graduate. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of clerical experience. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
