In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. including two weekend shifts within a six-week period.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services in a variety of healthcare settings.Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.Perform telephone triage and call rotations.Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.Assist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and medical specialty assigned.Administer medications and treatments as ordered by a physician or LIP.Educate patients and families.Cover other nursing roles in the department.Maintain core competencies in nursing including CPR and skills labs.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (ADN or BSN program)Current state licensure as a Registered NurseBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red CrossAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within the first six months of employmentIn areas operating with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC Lines), Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) certification is preferred within three years of hire.One year of recent experience as an RN OR Licensed RN with at least 2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department may substitute for required RN experience.Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Two years of recent experience as an RNBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)ICU experiencePhysical Requirements:Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
