Job Description

Job Description

Medical Device - Cleanroom Technician - 1st, 2nd, 3rd Shift

Job Description

The Cleanroom Technician supports daily production and packaging activities in a regulated manufacturing environment, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role focuses on meeting production goals, performing in-process quality checks, maintaining accurate documentation in line with Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and using computerized systems to track materials and production activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily production and packaging activities in accordance with GMP and all related SOPs.
  • Work consistently to achieve assigned production goals and support unscheduled peaks in workload to ensure timely release of product and prevent back orders.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader and other stakeholders to understand critical raw materials, in-process procedures, and product specifications.
  • Identify and support corrective actions for technical problems related to raw materials and finished products.
  • Perform in-process quality checks on sub-assemblies and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot line issues and other production problems and promptly notify the Team Leader or appropriate personnel of required corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with GDP and all related SOPs.
  • Use a computerized Materials Resource Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system as required to report lot-controlled ingredients on batch records and to close work orders.
  • Perform line clearances and provide accurate examples of line clearance activities when needed.
  • Operate production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently in a cleanroom environment.
  • Follow quality assurance, inspection, and packaging procedures to support compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Use computers and related systems to document work, track materials, and support production activities.
  • Support qualification and validation trials as needed.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to avoid bottlenecks in the production process.
  • Remain flexible for overtime assignments, including occasional Saturday work, as required by production needs.
  • Participate in training and skill development to reach higher levels of responsibility and proficiency on the production floor.

Essential Skills

  • At least four years of previous assembly or packaging experience.
  • Previous experience in a regulated medical device manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SOPs, including the ability to explain what SOPs are and how they are applied in a manufacturing environment, with detailed examples of following SOPs to achieve goals.
  • Strong understanding of GDP, including the ability to explain what Good Documentation Practices are and how they were followed in prior roles.
  • Familiarity with GMP, GLP, FDA, and ISO requirements.
  • Ability to perform line clearances and clearly describe prior line clearance responsibilities.
  • Experience with machine operation in a production or cleanroom setting.
  • Experience with quality assurance, packaging, inspection, and production support activities.
  • Ability to operate computers and use production-related systems, including MRP and ERP tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend coagulation-based manufacturing processes, or prior experience with such processes.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing terminology and acronyms, demonstrating comfort with manufacturing lingo.
  • Ability to close work orders and accurately document production activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to compliance with documented procedures.
  • High level of reliability and accountability in attendance and performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in coagulation-based manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of qualification and validation trials.
  • Experience with large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), FDA regulations, and ISO standards.
  • Comfort working in a cleanroom environment with strict dress code and hygiene requirements.
  • Ability to explain prior experience with specific machines and computer systems used in manufacturing.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, including occasional weekends, based on production demands.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly describe processes, equipment, and documentation practices to supervisors and interviewers.

Why Work Here?

The organization invests in each employee’s growth and engagement, including contractors, who are welcomed into the broader team culture. Team members participate in quarterly company events, often featuring catered lunches and food in an informal, social setting. Upon conversion to a permanent role, employees receive a pay increase, reflecting the value placed on long-term contributions. The environment emphasizes reliability, skill development, and opportunities to advance to higher responsibility levels on the production floor.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cleanroom manufacturing environment on a first-shift schedule, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work involves operating machinery, performing inspections, and using computer systems such as MRP and ERP tools in a production setting that can become loud; hearing protection, including ear plugs, is provided. The dress code requires pants (leggings are not permitted), and no makeup or lipstick may be worn. Any necklaces must be tucked into shirts, and glasses must be worn with side shields. Headphones are not allowed on the manufacturing floor, and cell phone use is restricted to maintain safety and focus. After approximately six weeks of training, employees may be scheduled for overtime, some of which may be mandatory and may include Saturdays, with advance notice typically provided one to two weeks ahead. Reliability is essential, as the absence of a single person can create bottlenecks in the process, and employees are expected to support a disciplined, safety-conscious, and procedure-driven production environment.
