Day Kimball Health is hiring for a Part Time Registered Nurse to join our ICU department in Putnam, CT! Schedule: Nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Weekly Hours: 24 Hours Weekend Work Required: Yes, every third Benefits Summary (20 Or More Agreed Hours) Earned Time Off: including personal time & holidays Sick Time: one week annually Educational / Loan Reimbursement: $2,500 per fiscal year for part-time Pay-for-Performance Opportunities Shift Differentials: Additional pay is provided for evening, night, or weekend shifts, where applicable. As the ICU RN, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for diagnosing responses to actual or potential health problems and for providing basic emergent, supportive, and restorative care through use of the nursing process. Registered Nurse Responsibilities Provide direct care for patients who require intensive monitoring and interventions. Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Intensive Care Unit. Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination. Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examination, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area. Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses. Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record. Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy. Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients. Education and Experience Requirements Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Ability to recognize unsafe and life-threatening situations and how to intervene appropriately. Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, and ability to make appropriate independent decisions. Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice. Demonstrated compassionate customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
