At Wausau Homes, we build more than homes, we build trust, relationships, and opportunities. We're seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting department, support financial excellence, and play a key role in our continued growth. 

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, leading and developing team members, and supporting strategic financial initiatives across the organization. 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members
• Establish performance expectations and conduct reviews
• Prioritize departmental workload to ensure deadlines are met
• Foster collaboration and cross-training within the team

Financial Management & Reporting

• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses
• Support preparation of financial statements and management reports
• Analyze financial results, trends, risks, and opportunities
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities 

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

• Oversee vendor payments and AP processes
• Monitor AR activities, collections, and aging reports
• Support cash flow improvements and working capital initiatives 

 

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures
• Support annual audits and regulatory compliance
• Improve accounting workflows and reporting processes
• Identify automation opportunities and ERP enhancements 

 

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
• 2-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software

Preferred:

• CPA designation
• Manufacturing, construction, homebuilding, or related industry experience
