Staff AWS Data Engineer

Staff Data Engineer Remote, USA $180,000 to $210,000 USD This is a high-impact Staff Data Engineer role where you will help shape and deliver modern, enterprise-scale data platforms. You will play a key part in defining architecture, driving best practices, and enabling AI-ready data systems that support real production use cases. The Company They are a technology-driven organisation focused on building scalable data and AI solutions for enterprise clients. Their work combines strong engineering fundamentals with practical delivery, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and built for real-world application. Teams are collaborative and multidisciplinary, working closely across data, engineering, and product to deliver measurable results. They operate at pace, with a clear focus on quality and impact. The Role * Design and deliver scalable data platforms across pipelines, warehouses, and data lakes * Build and optimise batch and real-time data pipelines * Define and enforce data governance, quality, and compliance standards * Support the design of data systems for AI and machine learning, including embeddings and feature pipelines * Improve platform performance, scalability, and cost efficiency * Implement monitoring, logging, and CI/CD processes for data systems * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data solutions * Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practice Your Skills and Experience * Strong commercial experience building and scaling distributed data systems * Expertise in Python, SQL, and either Scala or a similar language * Deep knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and data warehousing * Experience with data pipeline orchestration and processing * Strong experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub * Solid understanding of data modelling, transformation, and governance frameworks * Experience working with containerised environments and CI/CD pipelines * Hands-on experience supporting AI and machine learning data workflows * Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams What They Offer * 180,000 to 210,000 USD base salary * Fully remote working across the US * Opportunity to influence data architecture and engineering standards * Exposure to modern AI and data platform technologies * Clear progression within a technical leadership track
