Registered Nurse RNFA

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) provides specialized perioperative nursing care with proficiency in robotics and various surgical specialties including bariatric, general, colorectal, orthopedic/spine, vascular, urology, and gynecology. This role involves assisting in surgeries as a scrub and circulating nurse, ensuring patient safety and effective surgical outcomes. The RNFA participates in on-call rotations and collaborates closely with surgical teams to deliver high-quality care. Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons during operations as a scrub and circulating nurse.
• Provide perioperative nursing care in specialties such as robotics, bariatric, general, colorectal, orthopedic/spine, vascular, urology, and gynecology.
• Maintain sterile field and surgical instruments throughout procedures.
• Ensure patient safety and monitor patient status during surgeries.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Participate in on-call rotations including kidney call and general call as scheduled.
• Adhere to surgical protocols, safety standards, and infection control policies.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a scrub and circulating nurse in surgical settings.
• Proficiency in robotic surgery and multiple surgical specialties (bariatric, general, colorectal, ortho/spine, vascular, urology, gynecology).
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices and sterile techniques.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure surgical environments.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Certification as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) or equivalent perioperative nursing certification.
• Experience with advanced surgical technologies and equipment.
• Additional training in specialty surgical areas.

Special Considerations:

• On-call duty approximately 8 days every 6 weeks, including kidney call Monday through Friday (1800-0600), kidney call weekends (24 hours), general call weekends (0700-1700), and holiday general call (0700-1700).
• No kidney call on holidays.
• Candidate must be willing to work either 4x10-hour shifts or 3x12-hour shifts.

Scheduling:

• Shift options include four 10-hour shifts or three 12-hour shifts per week.
• On-call schedule is split evenly among RNFAs participating in kidney and general call rotations.
