Warehouse TechnicianThe Equipment Bureau of Arlington County's Department of Environmental Services (DES) is seeking a Warehouse Technician to join our team!The Equipment Bureau maintains all County and Arlington Public Schools vehicular equipment across six automotive repair sections: Light Equipment Repairs, School Bus Repairs, Fire & Engineering Equipment Repairs, Heavy Truck Repairs, Evening Light Vehicle Maintenance, and Evening Heavy Truck Maintenance.The selected candidate will be an integral member of a team responsible for maintaining manual and automated inventory systems within the warehouse. Key responsibilities include coordinating the ordering, receiving, and distribution of parts and materials including ensuring the safe and efficient storage and maintenance of warehouse item inventory.ResponsibilitiesMajor Job Duties: Receiving, distributing, and recording of parts and materials requested by technicians; Researching and responding to inquiries related to warehouse inventory levels; Using an Asset Management System (AMS) to build, download and manage warehouse inventory data reports; Using Microsoft Office Word to create correspondence and/or reports; Tracking purchasing requests for promptness and accuracy; Maintaining security of warehouse assets and cleanliness/organization of warehouse; Coordinating receipt, storage and customer notification of materials and equipment delivered to the warehouse; Assisting with the loading and unloading of warehouse supplies with forklift; Reviewing financial documents and packing slips for accuracy regarding warehouse invoices; and Performing other job-related duties as assigned.The ideal candidate will have: An automotive industry background paired with proven experience leading the work of others; Ability to communicate effectively across shop supervisors, customers, and vendors; and Demonstrated experience balancing competing priorities across multiple shops and responding to seasonal and emergency demands.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Less than that required for completion of the requirements for graduation from a standard senior high school or obtaining a GED certificate; and Some experience related to warehouse operations: including receiving, storing, issuing, and buying supplies/tools, materials, parts and equipment and maintaining the associated records systems.Desirable Qualifications: Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following: Purchasing or warehouse management experience in an automotive or large car dealership environment; Handling of purchases or inventory of a variety of parts and equipment from small engine to heavy truck or heavy duty parts; Interacting with vendors for availability and requests for parts and/or equipment; Using Asset Management Systems, digital inventory supplies, or automated financial systems; and/or Operating a forklift in a warehouse environment and/or possession of forklift certificate.Special RequirementsBackground Check: A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It will include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You will be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.Driver's License: Applicant must possess, or obtain by time of appointment, a valid driver's license, and must provide or authorize Arlington County to obtain a copy of official driving record. The employee in this position performs duties in all weather-related situations.Additional InformationWork hours: Day Shift, 6:00a.m. to 2:30p.m., or Night Shift, 2:15p.m. to 10:45p.m., Monday through Friday. This position may require being available for call-back in emergency situations. Work Schedule: This position is classified as emergency essential.
