What You’ll Do Repair heavy‑duty trucks and related equipment in the workshop and yard areas. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Read job orders and observe trucks in operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures. Diagnose and repair or replace failed parts or components on equipment, including transmissions, engines, drain lines, rear axles, gear boxes, hydraulic, steering, and brake systems. Troubleshoot and fix electrical and hydraulic problems on the equipment and its components. Service equipment by greasing, changing oils, and fluids. Perform welding and fabrication of parts necessary for repair of equipment. Operate cutting torch, gas welding equipment, shop tools such as power drills, saws, air tools, chipping guns, scalers, and impact guns. Operate service or tow truck with the required license. Maintain effective working relationships with company employees, suppliers, and customers. Promote and uphold the professional image and reputation of the company while ensuring timely problem resolution and customer satisfaction. Perform additional duties as assigned by the director of fleet. Qualifications and Requirements Two‑year college or technical school education, or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Apply knowledge of mechanical functioning of various components on equipment to perform repairs as needed. Work individually or in group settings, including crawling under or lying on equipment for extended periods. Use wrenches, tools, and proper body mechanics to perform tasks. Repair equipment in accordance with U.S. DOT regulations and specifications. Comply with all company safety rules and use safety‑related equipment. Understand written instructions, service/repair manuals, and problem logs concerning equipment malfunctions. Good computer keyboard skills and ability to learn through training. DOT inspector training certificate (upon request). Pay $36.40 – $44.50 per hour.
