Phlebotomist III Site Lead

Job Title: Phlebotomist III Site Lead ‑ East Brunswick, NJ (Mon‑Fri 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, rotational Saturday 7:00 AM–12:30 PM). Pay range: $23.48 – $32.03 per hour. You will draw blood specimens, prepare them for lab testing, and explain procedures to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence. You will direct daily activity at a PSC or IOP, lead more than one PSR on site, and may cover multiple locations. You must ensure all daily activities are completed accurately and on time, demonstrate Quest Leadership Behaviors, and focus on process excellence while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. Responsibilities Collect specimens according to established procedures (drug screens, biometric screening, insurance exams, etc.). Administer oral solutions per established training. Research test/client information and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems. Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration, test orders, and standing orders. Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information. Process specimens (label, centrifuge, split, freeze) as required by test order. Perform clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stock supplies, and answer phones when needed. Read and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures (Procedure Manuals, Safety Manual, Compliance Manual, Automobile Policies and Procedures, Employee Handbook, Quality Assurance Manual) and ensure staff follow instructions. Verify patient demographic info and signatures post‑venipuncture to confirm correct labeling. Assist with compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data. Maintain phlebotomy logs (maintenance logs, temperature logs) in a timely manner. Complete training courses and stay current with the latest phlebotomy techniques. Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off‑site or off‑normal shift. Participate in special projects and teams. Stay up‑to‑date on company communications and assist with distribution of technical information. Perform point‑of‑care (POC) testing at sites where needed and complete training/competency evaluations per SOP. Act as a mentor and resource for new employees, assisting with transition into the PSC work environment. Assist with periodic inventory counts and report shortages or problems to group leader or supervisor. Assist with preparation of schedules for the assigned workgroup or PSCs. Communicate professionally with clients to resolve or refer issues, documenting and reporting critical problems. Ensure staff follows safety precautions (lab coat, gloves, face shield) when required. Assist supervisors with implementation of SOPs and distribution of technical information per Quest Diagnostics guidelines. Ensure facilities are neat, clean, and in good repair; advise group leader or supervisor of required maintenance. Provide effective onboarding services to new clients. Partner with supervisor and group lead to assist transition process for new PSCs and IOPs. Step in for a PSR II and lead one or more PSR on site. Qualifications Five years phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Keyboard and data entry experience. Flexible and available based on staffing needs (weekends, holidays, on‑call, overtime). Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record when applicable. Travel and flexible hours to cover multiple locations (PSC, Mobile, Long‑Term Care, IOP) with minimal notice. Preferred Work Experience Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training. Minimum 3 years in a PSC or IOP environment. Customer service experience in a retail or service environment. Physical And Mental Requirements Lift 1–15 pounds frequently; 16–25 pounds occasionally; 26–40 pounds seldom; over 41 pounds without assistance. Sit or stand for long periods; requires long hours with eye and hand coordination. Perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand throughout the day. Position requires travel. Extensive use of phone and PC. Fine dexterity with hands/steadiness. Talking, walking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching/twisting. Licenses and Certifications Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states such as California, Nevada, Washington, Louisiana) – preferred.
