On the Labor Delivery floor within the Women’s and Children’s Health service line, the Obstetric Unit blends comfort with capability so an RN Labor Delivery can support physiologic birth, high-risk cases, and surgical deliveries in a setting designed for families; the unit is newly renovated, patient-centered experience featuring large, private suites, spa-like bathrooms, and advanced technology like laboring tubs. Reporting to a Nurse Manager and Director of Obstetric Services, the Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse is supported by experienced charge RNs, unit-based educators, lactation consultants, anesthesia, obstetric hospitalists, MFM, and 24/7 neonatology; responsibilities for the Registered Nurse Labor Delivery include triage, continuous fetal monitoring, labor support, circulating and recovering cesarean sections, postpartum couplet care, care coordination, patient education, and participation in quality improvement—within a collaborative culture known for friendly nurses, compassionate physicians, and a diverse healthcare professional team that champions shared governance and continuous learning.
