Vet Assistant

Humane Society of Summit County serves our community by caring and advocating for vulnerable animals and enriching the lives of pets and people. Job Summary The Humane Society of Summit County is accepting applications for part‑time and full‑time Veterinary Assistant positions. This person will provide support to the Shelter and MABEL (mobile veterinary unit) Veterinarian and staff with a variety of duties and animal care tasks. The primary role of this position will be assisting in surgeries, medical clean‑up and daily medication of animals. Other responsibilities include assisting with blood draws, vaccinations, performing fecal and urinalysis, euthanasia and other associated tasks under the direction of the Shelter and MABEL (mobile veterinary unit) Veterinarian. Hours Part‑time to full‑time hours available. The schedule may vary week to week. Weekend availability is required. Holiday coverage will be necessary but will rotate through the medical team. Position Requirements Must be 18 years old or older to apply Have at least 1 year of work experience in a related field Euthanasia certification (training provided) High School diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Positive attitude Passion for working with animals Ability to handle physically demanding work Ability to multitask Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment Ability to work with animals, cleaning agents and chemicals Knowledge of animal breeds, behavior, handling and safe restraint methods Ability to read, write, understand and follow instructions Position: Veterinary Assistant Employment type: Full‑time or Part‑time; not exempt Open date: 4/29/2026 We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
