JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION INFORMATION POSITION TITLE: Accountant CLASSIFICATION: Exempt DEPARTMENT: Accounting SUPERVISOR: Accountant Manager SALARY: DOE Revision Date: 1/23/2017 POSITION SUMMARY Under direct supervision of Accounting Manager, assists in Financial Department functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES The list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive. Prepares budget and general journal entries and enters monthly adjustments into automated accounting system. Track and maintain accounts receivable ledger Track and maintain fixed asset ledger by coordinating with necessary personnel. Prepares schedules for reporting of fixed assets. Prepares schedules for debt. Assist with preparing preliminary monthly financial statements and assist with year-end closing for each program. Creates and analyzes revenue and expense reports and general ledger reports. Closes and balances accounts by determining necessary entries to reflect information not recorded or posted to the department’s accounting system. Determines and identifies sources of errors or discrepancies and initiates corrective actions as required. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required. Performs other duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in accounting; or equivalent combination of gaming industry experience and education. Must be 21 years of age. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS, AND CERTIFICATIONS Knowledge of bookkeeping and record-keeping practices within a gaming industry. Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines. Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment. Ability to demonstrate excellence in everything and continually seek improvement in results. Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements. Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint). Skill in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational and financial reports. Skill in handling multiple tasks and meeting strict deadlines. Skill in filing and math. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is generally performed in an office and Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Evening and/or weekend work may be required.
