Mail, Equipment and Supply Carrier/Floater Custodian Starting Date: Immediately Job Description GENERAL SUMMARY, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Under general supervision, the Mail Carrier/Floater Custodian will collect, sort and deliver mail, packages, copy work to all District locations and the local post office as well as the transport and distribution of district equipment and supplies. Operation of forklift may be required as well as medium to heavy work (lifting); responsible to perform custodial or maintenance work as required at building sites. High school diploma or equivalent preferred Knowledge of fire and life safety codes is useful, but not mandatory Knowledge of basic techniques of building maintenance is preferred, but not mandatory Clear state criminal record check and child abuse check Completion of Work Fit Physical Be a minimum of 18 years old License/Certifications : Valid Nebraska driver’s license Ability to pass certification for operating a forklift Description: Delivers mail, packages, copy work, and other supplies daily via motor vehicle to each District school site, District administration buildings and the local post office. Must acquire and maintain a valid Nebraska driver’s license and abide by all local, state and federal motor vehicle laws. Collects and sorts mail – collects mail from all District locations, organizes and sorts mail by location, and distributes mail to all locations, ensuring all items reach their destination on time and in good condition. Transports and distributes district equipment and supplies . Operation of forklift may be required as well as medium to heavy work (lifting). Services, cleans, sanitizes and supplies public restrooms, administrative office, conference rooms, hallways, stairs, sinks, drinking fountains, break rooms and mechanical shops to provide a safe and clean working environment for employees and the visiting public. This includes cleaning of cabinets, woodwork, shades/blinds, ceilings, showers, blackboard/grease boards, carpets, garbage cans, wastebaskets, windows, and other areas of the company buildings as directed by District Maintenance Supervisor/Building Principal (includes loading and unloading of supply and service deliveries, filling and emptying power equipment with fuel and cleaning chemicals). Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking/unlocking and checking doors before, during and after operating hours as well as checking windows, lights on/off, rooms, entries, electrical appliances and environmental systems used to ensure that hazards are not created; promptly reports any damages or security problems to District Maintenance Supervisor/Building Principal; notifies managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems. Performs seasonal outside grounds work, interior deep cleaning and scheduled cleaning (to include but not be limited to litter pick‑up of outside grounds, snow removal of walk ways; furniture moving, installation of new furniture and equipment; wall washing, floor waxing/stripping, painting, dusting and special projects). Maintains regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job in order to maintain a student’s regular routines, foster student learning and build student relationships; the ability to perform the identified tasks and possess the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; the ability to perform the identified physical requirements. Hours: Work hours are generally 6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. The pay is currently $22.90/hour and will increase to $23.65 in September. 260‑day full‑time position, benefits eligible.
