Salary $3,625.00 Location North Canyon High School Position Head Boys Soccer Coach – Temporary addendum position (FTE: 1.0) Season Dates: TBD (approx 11/02/2026 – 02/05/2027) Volunteer Requirement All coaches must be a district approved volunteer. Purpose Statement The job of Head Coach is to design and implement the athletic program for assigned sport(s) in accordance with applicable rules and regulations; provide supervision of other coaching personnel and of students; use sound instructional techniques; serve as a positive role model; and act as liaison with schools, the community and organizations. Essential Functions Assess student athletes for performance feedback and team placement. Attend meetings, workshops, conferences to receive and convey information. Conduct parent orientations, recognition events and banquets to provide information and recognize participants. Develop practice regimes (strength, speed, agility, nutrition, injury prevention) for performance improvement. Develop game strategies, analyze opponent strengths and weaknesses, create plays before competition. Guide other coaching personnel in instruction techniques, practice organization, supervision guidelines. Identify program needs and recommend expenditures for activities, equipment, supplies. Implement practice schedules and related events, ensuring efficient program operation. Instruct student athletes to promote growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Maintain records (game statistics, insurance, signed permission forms, scheduling, equipment inventories) to comply with district, conference, state requirements. Monitor academic eligibility, provide intervention (counseling, tutoring) to maintain eligibility. Oversee assistant coaches, student managers, volunteers, providing direction and monitoring. Promote athletic program through clinics, skill camps, community meetings. Respond to inquiries of students, parents, school personnel, media, college representatives. Keep Athletic Director informed of issues impacting the program. Provide prudent supervision for all athletes and staff. Explain and discuss PVUSD Athletic Code of Conduct with all athletes. Maintain high standards of personal conduct and serve as role model. Ensure all coaches are cleared through PVUSD Human Resources Department. Other Functions Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Adapt to changing priorities, administer first aid, apply laws, codes, policies. Coordinate activities with other schools, districts, agencies. Organize and communicate information and concepts. Oversee financial transactions. Knowledge of community support organizations, public relations, equipment, injury prevention protocols. Understanding of participant eligibility, attendance, discipline guidelines. Public relations protocols, professional standards, safety practices. Ability to communicate with varied educational and cultural backgrounds. Handle frequent interruptions, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines. Exhibit strong leadership, motivate student athletes, enforce sportsmanship. Travel to off‑campus events and competitions, work extended hours including evenings and weekends. Responsibilities Work under limited supervision following standardized methods; direct other persons in the unit; utilize resources from other units as required. Work Environment Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine finger dexterity. Requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, 40% standing; exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury. Experience Job-related experience required. Education High school diploma or equivalent.
