Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM

Location: Alexandria, LA

This facility is dedicated to providing high-quality, efficient, and compassionate healthcare services to the community. With a commitment to coordinated healthcare delivery, the organization focuses on developing an integrated, cost-efficient, and quality-driven healthcare system.

Unit Information

  • Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care
  • Number of Beds: 6
  • Location: Rapides Women's & Children's Hospital
  • Floor: 3rd

Staffing Model

The unit employs a dynamic staffing model:

  • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse & 1 RN/LPN (staffing varies with census)
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse & 1 RN/LPN (staffing varies with census)

Patient Care

Patient Ratios: 1:1-2

Equipment Utilized

  • Alaris IV Pump
  • Bair Hugger
  • Kangaroo Feeding Pump
  • Giraffe Infant Warmer
  • Ventilators
  • BiPap
  • High Flow Oxygen

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

  • Meditech
  • Pyxis

Hiring Profile

Required Skills: Candidates must possess the following to be considered for the role:

  • 1 year of pediatric ICU nursing experience

Preferred Skills: The following skills are desirable and may increase consideration:

  • Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Experience in other women's health areas (labor and delivery, obstetrics/gynecology)

Typical Procedures

  • Spinal taps
  • Titration of critical drips (sedation, vasoactive, paralytic)
  • Sedated MRI
  • EKG/EEG/Telemetry
  • Port access and discontinuation
  • Intubation/Extubation

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A patient individual with excellent multitasking and prioritization skills
  • A self-starter with strong organizational abilities

Certifications Required

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS

Floating Areas

May float to NICU (low acuity) or Nursery. May float to Obstetrics/Gynecology if qualified.

Dress Code

Scrub Color/Attire: Teal

Scheduling Information

Weekends and On-call: Rotating weekends. May work a mixed schedule of days, nights, and weekends to fill scheduling requirements as needed.
