$8,766.00 - $10,973.00 Work Location: Hybrid telework Job Type: 12‑month Limited Term – Full Time Department Consumer Protection and Enforcement (CPED)/Transportation Licensing & Analysis / Transportation Analysis Section Job Summary The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) seeks a Senior Transportation Analyst to regulate autonomous vehicle passenger services and transportation network companies in California. Position within CPUC's Transportation Licensing and Analysis Branch (TLAB), holding direct regulatory authority over AV operators and TNCs. Analyst will shape policy impacting daily transportation of Californians. Responsibilities Developing and implementing regulatory frameworks for AV passenger services and TNCs. Advising Commissioners, Administrative Law Judges, and CPUC leadership on transportation safety, accessibility, and emerging business models. Analyzing data from CPUC's AV incident and TNC safety datasets to identify trends, inform rulemaking, and hold regulated entities accountable. Engaging regulated companies, academic researchers, and partner agencies to build workable policy under rapid technological change. Supporting interagency coordination on zero‑emission fleet transitions within the for‑hire transportation sector.
