This role is responsible for full lifecycle project leadership, stakeholder alignment, and delivery of high-quality, compliant, and profitable outcomes.The Principal Project Manager engages diverse stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, community organizations, subcontractors, and internal senior leadership—to build trust, align expectations, and drive successful project execution. This individual operates with a high degree of autonomy and is recognized as both a project leadership authority and technical expert. This role also contributes to business development, client/account growth, and the development of high-performing project teams and Project Managers across Weston. The successful candidate must have deep expertise in the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) and hold a current Licensed Site Professional (LSP) license in good standing (or be able to obtain licensure).Location: New Hampshire or Massachusetts (preferred), or within the New England StatesExpected Outcomes:Enterprise-Level Project LeadershipLeads the largest, highest-risk, and most complex environmental projects and programs, often with multiple concurrent workstreams and stakeholders.Defines and governs project scope, schedule, and budget to meet contractual commitments and achieve strong financial performance.Advanced Stakeholder Strategy & InfluenceDevelops and executes stakeholder engagement strategies that build trust and align expectations across executive clients, regulators, and community stakeholders.Navigates complex stakeholder environments and regulatory frameworks to advance project outcomes.Engages stakeholders early (proposal phase) and sustains relationships that drive long-term value and repeat business.Technical & Regulatory Authority (LSP)Serves as a recognized technical authority on MCP and applicable state and federal regulations.Leads development and execution of regulatory and site closure strategies that are defensible, efficient, and aligned with client objectives.Interfaces directly with regulatory agencies on high-visibility and complex sites.Leadership, Mentorship & PM DevelopmentBuilds, leads, and inspires high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams across the organization.Mentors Project Managers and technical staff, strengthening project management capability at the local and enterprise level.Advocates for and contributes to Weston’s Project Management community of practice.Project Performance & Value OptimizationDrives profitability and performance across projects by proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and value-creation opportunities.Leads teams to outperform key performance metrics (e.g., margin, cash flow, schedule adherence).Ensures strong financial discipline, including forecasting, invoicing, and receivables management.Quality, Safety & Operational ExcellenceEstablishes a culture of safety and quality, consistently achieving high performance in H&S and technical delivery.Anticipates complex project challenges and leads teams in developing effective, timely solutions.Implements scalable project systems and processes to optimize delivery.Business Development & Account LeadershipPartners with business development and account teams while positioning Weston for strategic opportunities.Leads or supports proposal development, including scope definition, pricing, and profitability strategy.Expands client relationships and obtains follow-on and sole-source work.Operational & Contractual ComplianceEnsures compliance with WESTON operating protocols, business ethics, and procurement/subcontracting requirements.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, geology, or related field.12+ years of experience in environmental consulting, site investigation, and remediation.10+ years of experience managing complex environmental projects/programs.Current Massachusetts Licensed Site Professional (LSP) in good standing.Deep knowledge of MCP and state/federal environmental regulations.Demonstrated success leading complex regulatory strategies and site closures.Proven ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams on high-risk, high-visibility projects.Strong stakeholder engagement and influence skills across technical, regulatory, and executive audiences.Advanced project management capabilities across scope, schedule, budget, and risk.Demonstrated track record of delivering strong financial outcomes on complex projects.Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) license (or ability to obtain) preferred.We fully invest in our people.
