The Restaurant Host/Hostess plays a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests while efficiently managing seating and reservations. Working primarily in the evenings within a small team of 2-3 hosts, this role requires strong communication and multitasking skills to coordinate seating arrangements, handle waitlists, and maintain smooth customer flow using standard reservation software like OpenTable. Additionally, hosts may receive cross-training in bussing or serving to support overall restaurant operations.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and manage front-of-house seating coordination
• Handle reservation and waitlist management using reservation software
• Prepare tables and maintain cleanliness in seating areas
• Manage customer flow and crowd control during peak evening hours
• Resolve guest issues promptly and ensure excellent customer service
• Communicate effectively with serving and kitchen staff
• Handle phone inquiries with professionalism and courtesy
• Collaborate with team members to support smooth restaurant operations
• Participate in cross-training for bussing or serving as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in hospitality or customer service
• Familiarity with reservation software systems
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Effective teamwork and communication abilities
• Professional phone etiquette
