Consumer Lender (Universal Banker II)

Position Summary

The Universal Banker II is an experienced financial services professional who provides comprehensive member service while performing consumer lending, loan processing, new account, and frontline responsibilities.

This position assists members with their everyday financial needs, including opening and servicing accounts, processing transactions, evaluating and processing consumer loans, and recommending appropriate Credit Union products and services. The Universal Banker II is expected to independently handle a broad range of member needs while providing accurate, friendly, and efficient service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Interview members, evaluate financial needs, and recommend appropriate consumer loan products and other Credit Union services.

• Accept, evaluate, process, close, and fund consumer loan applications, including vehicle, personal, credit card, share secured, and other consumer loans.

• Review credit reports, income, debt obligations, collateral, debt to income ratios, and other information necessary to make sound lending decisions.

• Collect, review, and verify required loan documentation and ensure loan files are complete and accurate before closing.

• Communicate loan decisions, terms, conditions, and next steps clearly to members.

• Open, maintain, and service checking, savings, certificates, IRAs, HSAs, and other deposit accounts.

• Assist members with account maintenance, transfers, beneficiary and ownership changes, debit cards, online and mobile banking, and other account services.

• Perform teller and frontline transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments, check cashing, and other routine and complex transactions.

• Assist members with account questions, fraud concerns, debit card disputes, and other service issues in accordance with established procedures.

• Identify opportunities to strengthen member relationships by recommending appropriate Credit Union products and services.

• Provide member assistance in person, by telephone, and through digital service channels.

• Maintain accurate records and ensure all transactions, accounts, and loans comply with Credit Union policies and applicable regulations.

• Support and assist other team members and provide guidance to less experienced Universal Bankers when needed.

Qualifications

• Previous credit union, banking, consumer lending, or related financial services experience preferred.

• Experience with consumer lending, loan processing, new accounts, and member service strongly preferred.

• Ability to analyze credit reports and financial information and make sound lending decisions.

• Excellent communication, member service, organizational, and problem solving skills.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple member needs and responsibilities.

• Comfortable discussing and recommending financial products and services.

• Proficiency with financial institution systems, digital banking platforms, and standard office technology.

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
