Structural Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Structural Fitter to join our team in constructing water towers and storage tanks. You will be responsible for fitting and fabricating structural components using blueprints and drawings. This includes reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, laying out, fitting up, and tack welding with flux core. You will also fit platforms, ladders, walkways, and other structural components, determining orientation and degrees of fit-ups with carbon steel materials such as channels, I-beams, angles, and plates.

Responsibilities

• Fit and fabricate structural components for water towers and storage tanks.
• Read and interpret blueprints and drawings accurately.
• Measure, cut, and lay out materials for construction.
• Perform tack welding using flux core techniques.
• Fit platforms, ladders, walkways, and other structural components as needed.
• Determine orientation and degrees of fit-ups.
• Work with carbon steel, channels, I-beams, angles, and plates.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience in structural fitting.
• Proficiency in welding with flux core and ability to pass 2G flux test.
• Experience in reading blueprints and using a tape measure.
• Ability to operate an overhead crane.
• Skilled in using a hand torch.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating fabrication machines such as rolls, presses, plasmas, and bandsaws.
• Prior experience with tank fittings is a plus.

Work Environment

Work in a large, non-climate-controlled shop handling heavy materials. The position is primarily a day shift from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. Be prepared for a possible transition to night shifts for up to two months after six months of employment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
