Job Description Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), College of Medicine, Department of Radiation Medicine is seeking a full-time radiation oncologist to work at a new cancer center in Nexton, South Carolina, a satellite facility of MUSC Health, 24 miles northwest of the main MUSC campus in Charleston. The physician is expected to carry faculty rank based on experience and would have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials, resident education, and multidisciplinary patient care. The satellite center is a newly built facility with all new equipment including a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, Siemens CT-simulator, ARIA, EPIC EMR, and Eclipse treatment planning system. Staffing includes full-time onsite nursing and physics with hybrid coverage for dosimetry.

Job Description

The MUSC flagship campus in Charleston has additional treatment modalities and technical expertise to fully support the practice in Nexton.  The Charleston campus and nearby Mount Pleasant satellite host three Varian TrueBeam accelerators, a GammaKnife unit, and a Tomotherapy unit as well as two CT/Simulators, multiple treatment planning platforms, and strong LDR and HDR brachytherapy programs. The Department supports an ACGME-accredited residency program for physicians and a CAMPEP-accredited residency program for physicists. The physician would be afforded the opportunities for career advancement.
