Mentor a Teen in Foster Care
$30 per hourFamily Partnerships of Central Florida
Family Partnerships of Central Florida is the lead Community-Based Care (CBC) agency serving Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Brevard Counties. We are seeking caring adult volunteers to mentor our teens or young adults in foster care.
Being a teen in foster care can be overwhelming. Many of our youth face this time without the support of a consistent adult to guide them through life’s challenges. That’s where you come in.
Our mentoring initiative is a voluntary service that matches supportive adult mentors (aged 25+) with youth in foster care between the ages of 13 and 23, living in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, and Brevard counties. Mentors play a vital role in helping mentees grow, build confidence, and achieve their goals.
As a mentor, you may engage in activities such as:
- Supporting academic needs
- Helping your mentee build and stick to a budget
- Assisting with college or job applications
- Studying for driving exams together
- Providing encouragement and emotional support
Mentor Expectations:
- Meet with your mentee for at least 4 hours per month (ideally 1 hour per week)
- Log volunteer hours in a timely manner
- Complete monthly and bi-annual surveys
- Pass a background check and drug screening
- Attend an orientation session
- Have minimum state required car insurance
- A $30 fee is required to help cover the cost of the background check.
Your presence can make all the difference. Join us in empowering youth and young adults to thrive as they transition into independence.
