Klingberg is a private non‑profit multi‑service agency that provides help to thousands of people across Connecticut each year. Our goal is to extend hope and healing to children and families whose lives have been traumatized by abuse and/or neglect in its various forms, sever family problems and mental health issues. We are seeking to fill full‑time Child Development Specialist positions in our Extended Day Treatment program located on our New Britain campus. The program is an intensive, year‑round program that provides an array of comprehensive therapeutic services for children ages 5‑12 experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties. It offers services in the hours immediately following school and on school vacation days, providing a structured setting where children learn important coping and social skills and participate in a variety of activities to promote healthy development. We are also offering a $1,000 sign‑on bonus. Responsibilities Participate in the development of individual treatment plans and facilitate their implementation. Consult with other staff to assure consistency and continuity of individual treatment programs. Foster a stable and therapeutic environment and interact with clients in a manner marked by a controlled, non‑judgmental tone of voice and body language, promoting individual responsibility and self‑esteem. Implement treatment plans, behavioral level system, and other means of structure in a therapeutic, caring, and respectful manner. Foster a positive, communicative environment for client families, guardians, and representatives. Provide a variety of services to clients, including transportation, assistance and instruction in hygiene, assistance in the development of daily living skills and maintenance of other personal needs. Participate in and/or plan recreational activities both on and off campus. This includes motivating clients, hobby and skills instruction and support, and fostering a positive, enthusiastic, and therapeutic play environment. Provide transportation for clients to and from the program as assigned. Participate in physical intervention of clients as required in a manner consistent with policy and procedures; obtain and maintain appropriate training certification. Education/Experience/Other Requirements Bachelor’s Degree and 2‑4 years in a clinical treatment program setting preferred. Must maintain a valid driver’s license. Obtain and maintain certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and CPR/First Aid (training provided internally). Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
