Environmental Compliance Lead

Location: Oak Ridge, TN Job Title: Environmental Compliance Lead Career Level From: Specialist Career Level To: Senior Specialist Job Specialty: Environmental Science What You’ll Do Interprets federal and state laws, regulations, and orders as they apply to environmental practices. Implements policies and procedures to ensure that these work activities are in compliance with the appropriate statutes and regulations and that reporting requirements are met. Oversees specific projects from an environmental perspective at Y-12. Reviews and analyzes environmental documentation issued by the federal EPA, state, and local regulatory agencies. Determines impact on company operations and publishes compliance strategies and requirements. Evaluates proposed regulations to determine impact on company operations. Interacts with federal, state, and local regulators to resolve compliance issues; establishes permit requirements; and assists in EPA, state, and regulatory audits. Investigates and resolves compliance issues and problems, questions, or complaints received from within the company, customers, government regulatory agencies, etc. Evaluates current policies, procedures, and documentation for compliance with government laws and regulations. Typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years. OR Master’s degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years. Requires a complete understanding and broad application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and all environmental regulations, including CERCLA. Requires general knowledge of other related disciplines and/or functions as they interact at Y-12. In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). Preferred Job Requirements Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. This position may be categorized as a “designated position” identified by 10 C.F.R.
