About the Position

Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: IN license or compact required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: At least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary experience Description: The position requires a minimum of 1.5 years of experience in Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care. Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience in a facility with 450 or more beds. The unit cares for a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses. Common chronic illnesses managed include COPD, diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. The unit also addresses gastrointestinal issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases. Management of infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, and UTIs is also part of the unit's responsibilities. Neurological issues including stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries are treated. Mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse are also part of the patient population. Patients may undergo procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and bronchoscopy. Minor surgeries performed include laparoscopic cholecystectomy, incision and drainage, biopsies, and amputations. General nursing duties include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Proficient use of electronic health records, IV pumps, wound vacs, and telemetry monitoring is required. Candidates will float to other medical units as needed. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6. Candidates must have BLS certification and a valid Indiana RN license or compact license. Dress code consists of Caribbean blue scrubs. The orientation includes one day of general hospital orientation followed by approximately five days of nursing orientation.
