About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required; PALS preferred Must-Have: Teamwork and communication skills Description: Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles. Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift. Non-billable orientation hours are guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation. Nurse to patient ratios are days 1:5, nights 1:5-6. Common diagnoses include medical acute cases such as pneumonia, heart failure, and sepsis. Experience with surgical cases and occasional pediatric respiratory illness is preferred. Oversight and collaboration with patient care technicians are necessary to ensure quality care. Charge Nurse and Admin Supervisor are present on each shift. Charge Nurse takes 1-2 patients. Patient care technicians have a ratio of 1:8-10 during days, 1:9-10 for evenings, and 1:10-12 for nights. Registered Nurses are required to monitor tele strips. Virtual central telemetry monitoring is available. Shifts are 0700-1930 and 1900-0730. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday requirements include rotation for specific holidays. Low census would lead to a re-evaluation every 4 hours. Floating may occur to accommodate acute overflow patients. Nurses may float to alternative sites with prior notification. Solid color scrubs are required, with no prints. Unit-specific orientation usually lasts 3 shifts. Charting is done in an electronic system. A BSN is not required to apply.
