A fulfilling opportunity awaits for a Special Education Teacher eager to make a meaningful impact with high school students. This full-time, onsite contract role begins August 24, 2026, and runs through the end of the 2026–2027 academic year.
You will work with a small caseload—approximately 10 students in grades 9–12—providing specialized instruction and support. Responsibilities include collaborating closely with general education staff in co-teaching/inclusion settings as well as delivering targeted pull-out services tailored to individual needs. Focus areas include enhancing social, emotional, and behavioral skills along with academic support in reading and math.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching License (Secondary level)
- Experience working with high school-aged students
- Strong background in co-teaching/inclusion and pull-out instructional models
- Ability to support social/emotional/behavioral development and academic growth
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff and families
- Two professional references required prior to interview
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction for high school students with diverse needs
- Work in general education classrooms as a co-teacher and in individualized pull-out sessions
- Develop and implement effective strategies for supporting reading, math, and social/emotional skills
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Document student progress and partner with colleagues, families, and support staff
