Technical Accounting Manager

Our client is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager with strong SEC reporting experience to lead complex accounting analyses, support external reporting, and help ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements. This role will be responsible for researching technical accounting matters, preparing and reviewing SEC filings, and partnering cross-functionally with finance, legal, FP&A, internal audit, and external auditors. The ideal candidate combines deep accounting expertise with strong attention to detail, project management skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and other required disclosures.
• Research and document technical accounting issues, including revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, business combinations, impairments, debt, equity, and other complex transactions.
• Draft accounting memoranda and position papers to support conclusions under U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance.
• Oversee preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
• Monitor new accounting pronouncements and SEC developments; assess impact and support implementation efforts.
• Partner with external auditors on quarterly reviews, annual audits, and technical accounting matters.
• Collaborate with legal, investor relations, tax, treasury, and operational finance teams on reporting and disclosure requirements.
• Support SOX compliance and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting.
• Assist with M&A activity, including purchase accounting, integration support, and related disclosures.
• Improve reporting processes, documentation, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff as applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or publicly traded company experience.
• Strong background in SEC reporting and technical accounting required.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC rules, and financial statement disclosure requirements.
• Experience preparing or reviewing Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K.
• Experience writing technical accounting memos and supporting audit reviews.
• Familiarity with SOX/internal controls frameworks.
• Advanced Excel skills required; experience with reporting tools and large ERP systems preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Big 4 or large public accounting background.
• Experience in a publicly traded company environment.
• Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Workday.
• Experience with equity accounting, business combinations, and complex consolidations.
