Pool Repair Service Technician

Job Summary:

The Pool Repair Service Technician is a field-based position responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining residential and commercial pool equipment. This role focuses on troubleshooting equipment issues, completing quality repairs, communicating clearly with customers, documenting work performed, maintaining safe work practices, and supporting overall service department efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

· Diagnose, repair, replace, and install pool equipment, including pumps, motors, filters, heaters, automation systems, salt systems, valves, lights, cleaners, and related plumbing components.

· Perform service calls efficiently and professionally while following company standards, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable safety procedures.

· Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, leaks, electrical control issues, circulation problems, and water quality concerns to determine the appropriate repair solution.

· Communicate findings, repair recommendations, completion notes, and customer questions clearly to customers, dispatch, management, and other team members.

· Maintain accurate service records, collect required photos or documentation, keep truck inventory organized, and represent the company with professionalism at every job site.

Equipment Diagnosis & Repair:

· Inspect pool equipment systems to identify mechanical, plumbing, hydraulic, electrical control, or operational issues.

· Repair or replace pumps, motors, filters, heaters, automation controls, valves, chlorinators, salt cells, timers, lights, cleaners, and related components.

· Perform leak checks, pressure testing, priming, equipment startup, and system performance verification after repairs or installations.

· Use proper tools, diagnostic methods, and manufacturer resources to complete repairs accurately and efficiently.

· Recognize when work requires escalation, additional approval, specialty support, or a licensed trade professional.

Customer Service & Communication:

· Communicate professionally with customers before, during, and after service calls when needed.

· Explain repair findings, equipment condition, recommended next steps, and basic operating guidance in a clear and customer-friendly manner.

· Identify opportunities for preventative maintenance, equipment upgrades, or additional service needs and communicate them through the proper company process.

· Protect customer property by maintaining clean work areas, closing gates, securing equipment areas, and following job-site expectations.

· Partner with dispatch, maintenance technicians, construction teams, and management to ensure customer issues are resolved promptly and completely.

Documentation & Workflow:

· Complete accurate service notes, photos, parts used, labor details, customer communication notes, and follow-up recommendations in the service management system.

· Review assigned work orders, schedules, customer history, and job details to prepare for each service call.

· Communicate delays, incomplete work, parts needs, warranty concerns, or return visits promptly to the appropriate team member.

· Follow company processes for estimates, approvals, warranty work, inventory usage, and completed job documentation.

Truck, Parts & Safety Accountability:

· Maintain an organized, stocked, and service-ready company vehicle, tools, parts, chemicals, and equipment.

· Use parts, supplies, and company-owned tools responsibly and document inventory usage accurately.

· Follow safe driving practices, chemical handling procedures, equipment lockout awareness, electrical safety precautions, and job-site safety standards.

· Report vehicle, tool, safety, inventory, or equipment concerns promptly.

Qualifications:

Education

o High school diploma or GED; required

o Trade school, technical training, or manufacturer equipment training; preferred

Experience

o 2+ years of pool repair, pool service, equipment installation, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, or related field service experience; preferred

o Experience troubleshooting pumps, filters, heaters, automation systems, salt systems, valves, leaks, and circulation issues; preferred

Technical Skills

o Working knowledge of pool equipment operation, water circulation, filtration, heating, automation, plumbing basics, and water chemistry; required

o Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, plumbing, and basic electrical control issues; required

o Ability to read work orders, use mobile service software, document repairs, take photos, and communicate through email, phone, and messaging tools; required

o Strong customer service, problem-solving, time management, and route efficiency skills; required

o Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; required

 

Physical Requirements:  

• Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and other seasonal weather conditions

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, climb, pull, push, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the day

• Ability to lift and carry pool equipment, tools, parts, chemical containers, and supplies as needed

• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and pool repair materials

• Ability to safely handle pool chemicals and follow company safety procedures

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and respond to changing service needs

Working Conditions:

· Primarily outdoors and in the field, with regular travel between customer locations and occasional office, warehouse, vendor, or training time

 

Pay Type:

· Hourly; based on qualifications and experience

 

Position Type:

· Full-Time: Monday – Friday; schedule may vary based on season, weather, workload, customer needs, and service demand

· Occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, on-call support, or emergency service may be required
