About the Role:

The Registered Nurse (RN) ICU Night Shift plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, specialized care to critically ill patients during overnight hours. This position requires vigilant monitoring of patients' conditions, timely interventions, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The RN will manage complex medical equipment, administer medications, and provide emotional support to patients and their families during challenging times. Working the night shift, the nurse must maintain acute attention to detail and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Ultimately, this role is essential in sustaining continuous, expert care that supports patient recovery and safety throughout the night.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or equivalent.
• Minimum experience working in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or critical care setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Ability to work overnight shifts and adapt to a dynamic, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation software.
• Strong background in ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Previous experience working night shifts in a hospital ICU setting.
• Additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if applicable.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and assess critically ill patients continuously, recognizing and responding promptly to changes in condition.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
• Operate and troubleshoot advanced life-support equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Document patient care activities thoroughly and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide compassionate communication and support to patients and their families, addressing concerns and explaining care procedures.
• Participate in emergency response situations, including code blue events, ensuring rapid and effective intervention.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized ICU environment, adhering to infection control and safety policies.

The RN ICU Night Shift utilizes critical thinking and clinical judgment daily to assess patient conditions and make timely decisions that can be life-saving.
