Research Science Associate I Salary Range $36,894 - $40,850 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications. Research Science Associate II Salary Range $40,326 - $44,650 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications. This role acquires basicskills to perform routine tasks. For this role, work is prescribed and completed with little to moderate autonomy. This position works with either close supervision or under clearly defined procedures. This role is entry level to a research support careerprogression. The Research Science Associate II performs professional-level engineering and scientific research assignments. Thisposition leads, conducts, or assists with the dissemination of knowledge through scholarship, scientific inquiry, and creativeexpression. The RSA II requires full proficiency, gainedthrough job-related training and considerable on-the-jobexperience, to perform a range of tasks, and it takes a broadperspective to solve problems and spot new, less obvious solutions. This role identifies key issues and patterns frompartial/conflicting data. Core Responsibilities Research Science Associate I Performs professional research and engineering assignments toinclude performing experiments; gathering and analyzing data andsamples; setting up/operating equipment; and inspects minorfabrication, erection or assembly for conformance tospecifications. Assist with lab inventory upkeep, orders, and complianceprocedures. Performs specified phases of research projects to includemaking and recording observations and measurements; compiles data;processes paperwork; maintains lab accounts; writes technicalreports. Trains incoming and existing students on experimentalprocedures and edits students' papers prior to submission forjournals or for class. Performs other duties as assigned. Research Science Associate II Selects, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates studentsor new lab members on experimental procedures. Set-ups, cleans, resets, and restocks equipment and suppliesneeded for lab periods; maintain inventory of equipment. Assistswith lab compliance procedures. Provides guidelines for all lab members; supervises personnelduring projects; maintains accurate records of research; anddevelops, updates, and improves lab manuals. Selects and determines procedures in design, research, surveys,and investigations; records observations and measurements; andcompiles data. Inspects minor fabrication, erection, or assembly forconformance to specifications. Conducts specified phases ofresearch projects. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship ina related field. One to three years of related experience Additional education may substitute for experience on a oneyear for one year basis. This position may require the ability to maintain the securityand integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per TexasEO-GA-48.
