Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) evaluates suppliers based on their ability to supply product in accordance with MEC, MLS and customer requirements. Supplier Quality is responsible for eliminating the impact of vendor caused defects to Marvin Engineering and production through supplier management, rapid defect containment, resolution, and corrective action.

The SQE evaluates suppliers based on their ability to supply product in accordance with corporate and customer requirements. Criteria for evaluations are established and defined in corporate procedures. The results of evaluation and on-going quality and delivery performance are recorded helping drive decisions based on data driven metrics. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide guidance to Supply Chain and other internal functions in applying quality system requirements
2. Train suppliers and other MEC personnel on specifications and requirements for suppliers
3. Maintain and analyze supplier score cards and raw data to inform decisions based on data driven metrics
4. Generate weekly metrics to understand trends and performance of suppliers
5. Issue Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) or Supplier Notifications (SN)
6. Maintain SCAR process and ensure closed loop corrective actions with accurate and precise root cause identification
7. Manage Approved Supplier List (ASL) per MEC policies and procedures
8. Improve supplier quality performance via implementation of get-well plans, milestones, etc.
9. Attend daily Receiving Inspection huddles and/or shop floor meetings as requested
10. Prepare detailed trip reports to document site visits, audit findings, and observations
11. Conduct supplier quality system audits/surveys as required or requested
12. Ensure counterfeit part avoidance and application of the Government/Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alert system with suppliers
13. Communicate quality issues to suppliers as needed and help develop corrective actions
14. Assess supplier capabilities through technical discussions and quality system assessments
15. Conduct supplier site visits to deliver score cards, provide RCCA training, assist with the SCAR process, etc.
16. Build relationships with cross-functional groups to identify, reduce, and ultimately eliminate impact from vendor defects

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree or higher required (preferably in Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain)
• 3 – 8 years of experience, preferably in the aerospace and defense industry
• Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Knowledge of industry specifications and standards (e.g., AS9100, ANSI, ASME)
• Knowledge of government and regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes
• Proficient in the use of MS Office; with emphasis on Excel manipulation of data and metrics
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated
• Must be able to work in a team environment and possess good communication and interpersonal skill
• Experience with Quality Engineering tools (e.g., Cause Map, 5-Why) preferred
• Preferred knowledge of Full-Size Determinant Assembly (FSDA) and Digital Product Definition (DPD)
• Preferred knowledge of inspection methods
• Technical writing skills preferred
• Lean and/or Green Belt certification is a big plus
• CSQP or CQE certification is a big plus
• Must be able to lift 35 lbs
• Familiarity with SAP is a big plus

• Fast paced office environment
• Exposed to a variety of office and manufacturing environments
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

SALARY RANGE:

Base Salary Range (Inglewood only): $95,000 to $120,000

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position will require approximately 10 - 30% travel (out to suppliers)
