About the Position

Job Title

Travel RN – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / Stepdown), Night Shift

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | Nights: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Every Other Weekend Required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 44-bed Progressive Care Unit with a patient ratio of 4:1 (up to 5:1 when stretched)
• Perform neurological and spinal assessments, including C-collar placement and TLSO brace management
• Manage chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, lumbar drains, and feeding tube placements
• Administer blood transfusions and monitor patients receiving IV therapy via infusion pumps
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including Charge Nurses, CNAs, and HUCs across day and night shift grids
• Float to stepdown and med-surgical units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a PCU, stepdown, or similar acute care setting
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications (required; candidates without will not be considered)
• Neuro and trauma care experience
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and standard PCU equipment including IV pumps, PCA pumps, chest tubes, and patient lifts (Skylift)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Demonstrated neuro and trauma care experience in a high-acuity environment
• Experience with tracheostomy care and lumbar drain management
• Strong team-oriented, patient-focused approach to care delivery
