Imaging Assistant

Orthopedic One

Columbus, OH
Position Summary: Responsible for providing assistance to Radiologic and MRI Technologists and patients in efficiently obtaining quality images for diagnostic purposes.


Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

MRI Support:
  1. Prepares next day MRI schedule by reviewing exams ordered and verifying lab results if needed for contrast exams and informing the technologist of any discrepancies
  2. Assists MRI Technologists by assisting with patient preparation for exam, support patient screening per protocol, securing personal belongings and positioning.
Support Efficient Workflow:
  1. Escorts patients to and from exam and imaging rooms.
  2. Assist with patient transfers or positioning when more than one person is needed.
  3. Accurately perform data entry or scanning to EMR/PACS as required.
  4. Imaging rooms are cleaned and stocked with necessary supplies and communicates supply needs as needed.
  5. Processes requests for imaging studies on CD received from staff or patients and maintains related logs.
  6. Works with Orthopedic One referring offices to schedule MRI exams in EMR system at preferred Orthopedic One locations.
  7. Files completed MRI Reports into electronic patient record.
  8. Create physician referrals and monitor scheduling of MRI appointments throughout the organization.
  9. Track imaging completion for template specific MRI exams. Create case and upload MRI images to various implant vendors which utilize on-line management systems and ensures they are available in the allotted time frame.
  10. Performs various clerical duties as needed including but not limited to copy, fax, file, scan documents answer telephones, screening calls, and perform data entry.
Initiative:
  1. Seeks out assignments and assumes additional duties when patient permits.
  2. Proposes new ideas or suggests improvement to processes.
  3. Attempts to problem solve independently before involving supervisor or vendors.
  4. Provides support and coverage of other imaging staff to ensure all ordered imaging is completed.
  5. May perform other duties as indicated by location to facilitate patient care or fill down time productively.
Teamwork:
  1. Works cooperatively with coworkers, providers, and management.
  2. Shares knowledge and insights with co-workers in a constructive manner.
  3. Willingly provides coverage to department, staying beyond scheduled ending time when clinic schedule demands it, volunteering to cover time off or unexpected absences, maintaining workflow in department without direct supervision.
  4. Addresses conflicts with person directly before involving manager or uninvolved peers.
  5. Is considerate of others with regard to taking breaks or meal periods, use of computer and telephone, and noise in department.
Policies and Procedures:
  1. Knows and complies with policies and procedures as enumerated in the Orthopedic One Employee Handbook and policies and procedures documents.
  2. Provides assistance and support to leadership in implementing policies and procedures as necessary.
  3. Actively participates in training, and conducting day to day work activity by adhering to all policies and procedures as enumerated in compliance and risk management programs.
Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred qualifications include ARRT registry or eligibility to take registry for x-ray with interest in MRI specialty. Candidates working towards ARRT certification will be considered as well. Must maintain CPR/AED certification.
