Truck Driver/Boom Operator

Class A CDL Truck Driver/OperatorBuilders Choice offers a complete line of building and construction materials to commercial and residential buyers throughout the state of Alaska. With locations in Anchorage, Soldotna and Wasilla, we offer a broad array of building materials to clients all over the state.The Class A CDL Truck Driver/Operator facilitates the delivery of Builders Choice products and materials to customers.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDeliver products and material to customers.Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, including gas, oil, water, tires, lights and brakes to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.Operate trucks mounted forklift delivery trucks, knuckle and standard boom trucks.Pull orders and load materials.Obey traffic laws and follow written and transportation procedures.Perform emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, chains and spark plugs.Responsible for routine maintenance and reporting mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.Perform other related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility and wiliness to abide by the company's code of conduct, policies and procedures.Comply, understand, and support the company's safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Must be able to take direction when working with co-workers and supervisors.Must have strong communication skills with both customers and co-workers.Ability to operate trucks mounted forklift delivery trucks, knuckle and standard boom trucks.Ability to work a varying schedule, including holidays and weekends.QualificationsRequiredA valid driver's license & commercial driver's license Class A, with an acceptable driving record.Air Brakes endorsement.Ability to meet safety requirements.Current NCCCO Certification for Boom Truck Drivers.Ability to meet and maintain U.S. DOT FMCSA requirements for the position.PreferredExperience in any one of the above CDL required trucks is preferred.Prior work experience as a delivery driver preferred.Forklift certification preferred.Prior experience with building material supply or wholesale supply preferred.Builders Choice is a drug free workplace and pre-employment drug testing is part of the hiring process.
