POSITION TITLE: Surgical Estimator

REPORTS TO: Manager Surgical Scheduling and Insurance Verification

DEPARTMENT: Surgical Scheduling

FLSA STATUS: non-exempt

Position Summary=

Responsible for providing patient out of pocket estimates and surgical estimates to elective surgery candidates in advance of procedure.

Job Duties

· Focus on calculating costst and preparing estimates for surgeries.

· Utilize payer websites to determine current patient out of pocket amounts due and utilize various tools to estimate procedure cost and reimbursesment.

· Communicate to patient out of pocket estimates in advance of surgery. Record any communications in the system.

· Escalate any issues and concerns.

· Maintains positive relationships with all customers, employees, physicians, patients, visitors and guests.

· Uses sound customer relation practices and maintains high levels of visibility and accessibility

· Understand various payer reimbursement methodologies

· Document results and alert supervisors or managers of trends.

· Complete productivity reports and submit to supervisors within the established timeframe.

· Support the department's customer service and performance improvement goals.

· Collaborate with other staff to enhance patient care and service.

· Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

· Excellent computer skills.

· Ability to read, understand and follow detailed procedures. Analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities necessary. Proven skills of critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. Ability to prioritize, organize, and handle a high volume workload efficiently essential.

· Strong organizational skills; ability to work in a fast paced environment.

· Ability to provide excellent customer service internally and externally.

Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure Requirements

· H.S. Diploma.

· 4+ years’ experience in a hospital, ASC or physician office setting

· Previous related operational experience
