Schedule/Hours:

• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, three nights per week

Role Highlights: As an Emergency Room Psychiatric RN, you'll serve as a clinical expert in psychiatric assessment and crisis intervention in the emergency department. This highly independent role entrusts you with responsibilities critical to patient outcomes, from medication administration and de-escalation to direct crisis intervention alongside hospital leadership and security teams. Your assessments will guide physicians and shape care plans for high-risk psychiatric patients.


Qualifications:

• Active KS or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum of two years' psychiatric nursing experience (hospital experience highly preferred)
• Proficiency with direct patient care for high-risk psychiatric populations, restraint use, medication administration, and de-escalation
• Proven ability evaluating psychiatric patients in an emergency setting and determining appropriate care disposition
• Experience with crisis response and behavioral team calls, including intervention strategies for violent or escalating situations
• Excellent communication and independent decision-making skills

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide primary nursing care for high-risk psychiatric patients in the emergency department
• Administer medications, apply restraints as needed, and utilize de-escalation techniques
• Assess psychiatric emergencies and determine appropriate placement or discharge plan
• Respond to Behavioral Response Team calls throughout the hospital, leading interventions and supporting bedside staff in crisis
• Collaborate with ED physicians to complete psychiatric evaluations and create disposition plans following medical clearance
