School Bus Driver

Pay starts at $25.75/hr, effective 7/1/2025. School Bus Drivers shall receive an attendance bonus of eight hundred dollars ($800) per school year for perfect attendance from the first day to the last day of the school year. Accrual and payments are as follows:

Perfect Attendance can be achieved by the following:

No Sick Time used including FMLA sick days

Attendance all mandatory meetings

Arrive on time for all scheduled routes

No Unpaid time off Absence due to personal days, work related injury or Jury Duty will not count against perfect attendance.

Bus Drivers, 10- and 11-Month Employee Benefits Summary

Information is effective August 1st and is subject to change.

BUS DRIVERS must work a minimum of 20 hours per week to be eligible for benefits 10-MONTH and 11-MONTH EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PERSONNEL (ESP) must work a minimum of 30 hours per week to be eligible for benefits.

1. Health Insurance

• PPO, HDHP PPO or HMO medical plan available to choose from
• $700 monthly contribution toward monthly premiums

2. Dental Insurance Optional employee participation in the dental insurance plan at employee's expense.

3. Vision Insurance Optional employee participation in the vision insurance plan at employee's expense.

4. Life Insurance

• $25,000 term life insurance policy for employees with less than 6 years service
• $40,000 term life insurance policy for employees with 6 or more years of service

5. Long Term Disability Insurance A benefit providing the lesser of 60% basic monthly earnings or $6,000 per month.

6. Flexible Spending Plan A tax sheltered plan that is available for dependent care and unreimbursed medical expenses. A monthly fee may be associated with participation in the plan.

7. Health Savings Account A tax sheltered plan that is available for those enrolled in the HDHP. A monthly fee may be associated with participating in the plan.

8. AFLAC Optional plan at employee's expense

9. Voluntary Term Life and AD&D Insurance Must work at least 20 hours per week Supplemental Insurance at employee's expense

10. NCPERS Voluntary Decreasing Term Life Insurance at employee's expense

11. Sick Days Cumulative to 240 days To be used for illness, medical/dental needs not for personal time off

• Bus Drivers working 20 or more hours per week receive 10 sick days each year
• 10-month ESP employees working 600 or more hours per year receive 10 sick days each year.
• 11-month ESP employees working 600 or more hours per year receive 11 sick days each year.

12. Personal Days

• Bus Drivers working 20 or more hours per week receive two personal day per year
• 10/11-month ESP employees working 30 or more hours per week receive two personal days per year.
• Unused personal days convert to sick days the following year

13. Holidays

• Bus Drivers working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for paid holidays based on school calendar and work year
• 10/11-month ESP employees working 30 or more hours per week are eligible for paid holidays based on school calendar and work year

14. Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Employees working 600 or more hours per year contribute 4.5% of gross earnings and CUSD 95 makes a contribution as well

15. Tax Sheltered Retirement Investment Plan (403B Plan) Employees have the option of participating, through payroll deductions, in a tax sheltered retirement annuity or mutual fund company approved by CUSD 95 Revised 1/22/2025

Job Description

Job Title: School Bus Driver

Reports To: Director of Transportation

Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required Class B licensing and school bus permit Exceptional attendance, punctuality and personnel record. Flexibility needed Knowledge of the district's geographic area Position also requires a degree of confidentiality Must be able to work effectively with bus drivers, parents, administration, teaching staff, and students Supportive of District 95 Strategic Plan and Core Values Supportive of District 95 policies and practices

Work Year: 10 month, Full Time

Essential Job Functions

1. Duties include, but are not limited to the safe transportation of students from designated stops to and from school as outlined in the CUSD 95 Driver's Handbook.

2. Reporting to work on time, as it is essential to maintain the route schedule.

3. Operating a school bus in a safe manner with reasonable care in accordance with school district policy, state law, and federal law.

4. Enforcing the discipline and rules of the school district through proper procedures.

5. Having the agility to evacuate a school bus in case of an emergency.

6. Pre-tripping vehicle each day prior to departure.

7. Maintaining the cleanliness of the bus interior through daily sweeping as well as keeping the windows clean and clear.

8. Fueling the vehicle.

9. Report defective bus equipment.

10.Perform basic first aid which includes CPR.

11.All standards of conduct as outlined in the Transportation Code of Conduct will apply while students are on the bus regardless of time and location. It is expected that the vocational driver will enforce the Code of Conduct with verbal instructions and write ups if necessary.

12.Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Minimum Legal Requirements

1. Must be at least 21 years of age.

2. Must have had a valid Illinois Driver's License for at least three years immediately prior to application, or obtain driving abstracts from other states of residence for the previous three years. No suspensions, interruptions, or revocations of your driver's license are allowed.

4. Must pass the required physical exam and drug testing.

5. Must complete and pass a criminal background check by fingerprints.

6. Must not suffer from seizures or adjudged to be afflicted with or suffering from any mental disability or disease.

Physical Requirements

Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting).
