Unarmed Facility Officer

Position Summary

The Unarmed Facility Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment for employees, visitors, clients, and facility assets. The officer will monitor facility activities, enforce security policies and procedures, conduct routine patrols and inspections, respond to incidents and emergencies, and provide professional customer service.

This position requires strong observation skills, sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a variety of situations. This is an unarmed security position and does not require the carrying of a firearm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol assigned areas to identify safety, security, or maintenance concerns.
• Control and monitor access to the facility, including employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
• Verify identification and authorization in accordance with facility procedures.
• Maintain accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, visitor logs, and other required documentation.
• Monitor security cameras, alarms, access-control systems, and other security equipment as assigned.
• Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents, disturbances, alarms, medical emergencies, and other calls for assistance.
• Enforce facility policies, procedures, and posted rules in a courteous and professional manner.
• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled security checks of buildings, entrances, exits, parking areas, and other assigned locations.
• Identify and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, property damage, unauthorized access, or other unusual conditions.
• Assist with emergency procedures, evacuations, fire alarms, and emergency response activities.
• Maintain a visible security presence and provide excellent customer service to employees, visitors, and clients.
• Safeguard facility property, equipment, confidential information, and other assets.
• Coordinate with facility management, emergency responders, law enforcement, or other authorized personnel when necessary.
• Follow all company, client, and facility policies and security procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management or the supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous security, military, law enforcement, customer service, or facility operations experience preferred.
• Must meet all applicable state and local requirements for employment as an unarmed security officer.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to observe, identify, and accurately report unusual or suspicious activity.
• Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during stressful situations.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to complete electronic or written reports.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to conduct routine foot patrols throughout the assigned facility.
• Ability to climb stairs and navigate indoor and outdoor areas as required.
• Ability to respond quickly to emergencies within the scope of the position.
• Ability to perform duties in varying weather conditions when assigned to outdoor areas.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements established by the facility and applicable regulations.

Work Schedule

This position may require:

• Day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Extended periods of standing, walking, or monitoring security systems.
• Overtime or schedule adjustments based on facility needs.
• Work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

The Unarmed Facility Officer is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, reliability, and confidentiality at all times. Officers must follow established post orders and security procedures, treat all individuals with dignity and respect, and use appropriate conflict-resolution and de-escalation techniques when dealing with difficult situations.
